M/V Zenia Sophia

During each of the past two winters, we have observed M/V Zenia Sophia, a tugboat that ties up at Bell Harbor Marina from early fall through April and then departs for points unknown. She is a unique looking vessel and is likely one of the most-photographed boats in the harbor. See, for example, this post at Roux Photography or this photo at Lurvely.

As best we can determine, M/V Zenia Sophia is owned by Seattle artist Ulrich Pakker and his wife/business partner/muse, Pamela Pakker-Kozicki. See http://ppkozicki.wordpress.com/. We don't know either Rich or Pamela, but there's a great photo of Rich roasting a pig on his homemade spit aboard Zenia Sophia on New Year's Day 2012 at Bell Harbor Marina on the marina's Facebook page. What a creative way to celebrate New Year's!

In late April, we suspect that the owners of M/V Zenia Sophia became restless once again, so on April 28 they fired up her engine(s) and exited the marina. As in previous years, we expect they'll be homesick in about six months and return to Bell Harbor in the fall.
